Bear Nuts is live! Finally!

Sun Aug 31, 2008, 6:02 AM
Hey everyone! If you're bored.... go check out Bear Nuts the online comic:
[link]

Bear Nuts will update every Monday and I have about 35 pages in reserve so we shouldn't be missing any updates hopefully ever :) As it's a brand new comic we're open to any ideas/advice on how to promote/advertise it as that's not something we're good at. A few people suggested the TopWebComics site as a good starting place so if you like the comic, please go vote for it there:

Any votes that come in will help it move up the ranks to better visibility and hopefully get us some more hits and it looks like you can vote every couple days or so to keep it active. :)

Thanks everyone!

omg hand sore

It's almost 4 am here but I just finished my first full graphic novel project - 160 pages pencilled/inked/toned in 9 months - literally a baby! There's been ups and downs and editors leaving and changing and the pay is okay but nothing I could live off alone so side projects are always popping up and adding to deadline anxiety but it definitely feels good to finish something. Now I can take a short break before book 2 and work on my own stuff...like 'Bear Nuts'! I've got 35 full color pages done and many more written and thumbnailed out...the only problem is the web site.
We're trying out comicpress as it seems like a great program and I stumbled on to these guys from Toronto who all use it and it seems to work out really nice for them: [link]
If you have time check them out! 'Kukuburi' and 'Sin Titulo' are awesome and I particularly love 'The Abominable Charles Christopher'!
These guys are all professional artists who still find the time to have regularly updating web comics which is something I highly admire...but the problem for us is figuring out comicpress! We suck extremely with figuring out code and stuff so if there's anyone out there who knows their comicpress and doesn't mind me pestering them with questions... let me know! I'm an idiot who's afraid of html and I need help :D

I just completed 100 pages of penciled/inked/toned comics... only 60 more to go! :D

Gawd my hand hurts.

Anime North and stuff

Fri Apr 4, 2008, 7:03 AM
Hey everyone!
Jim and I managed to get a table for Anime North this year so we'll see ya there if you make it.
AN is in Toronto near the end of May. Unfortunately getting a table gets harder every year as the con gets bigger and bigger, so we have no guarantees that we'll be able to go next year. It's too bad, this is my favorite con to go to, but if we can't get a table then we can't really afford to go (a trip away not working means not earning any income either :(... ah the joys of freelancing.)

Popgun volume 2 will be out in time for SDCC this July so if you like comics and you like randomness, this is a great anthology of random comics to pick up :). Our short story 'Cave Pat and the Early Feminist Movement' will be included. I've already posted some sample pages and rough character designs, but I'll post the whole thing once the book comes out.

Work on the 'Bear Nuts' web comic is preceding and we hope to have a printed issue in time for Anime North and the FanExpo con in Aug (also in TO). I'll be posting some of that stuff here as well, hopefully soon :)

Have a good one everybody!

Updates and Popgun

Thu Nov 29, 2007, 9:21 AM
Hey everyone, long time no chat, or post anything for that matter...

I'm still unpacking from a move a couple of months ago and we're not completely settled yet; and Jimmy and I have both been really busy. I've been plugging away on a project for Tokyopop, and Jim's starting an exciting project for French publisher Soleil.

In the mean time, we do have some news:

Studio Dooomcat will be at the first ever New York Anime con on Dec 7-9 (so exciting! We've never been to NYC before!) which is coming up really soon!

Popgun Volume 1 is now out from Image comics!!! Check out the site here: [link]
Dooomcat studio's Nick Bradshaw and Jim Charalampidis had a short in it's predecessor "Low Orbit". Rebranded as "Pop Gun" and more than triple the size, this new anthology series needs everyone's support so we can buy volume after volume :D
Jim and I will have a short story in volume 2 due out sometime in the new year. So if you like comics, check out Popgun for some fun and varied shorts!

Plus, just in time for Christmas, Dooomcat has a RedBubble store you can check out here: [link]
We're going to use RedBubble as a great place for feedback on our designs and art, especially as to what pieces we should turn into t-shirts for cons and such. If you'd like to tell us what you think, please feel free to comment on which designs you like the best and why. We'd really appreciate it! And RedBubble is currently running a free shipping promotion until the end of November.

Have a great weekend everyone!
